The Seoul Center for Creative Economy & Innovation (CEO Lee Young-geun, hereinafter “Seoul CCEI”) announced that it successfully concluded the “Outstanding Achievement-Sharing Event for the Public-Private Partnership Open Innovation Support Program” on the 12th.

 

The Public-Private Partnership Open Innovation Support Program is a mutual-growth initiative designed to promote startup-centered open innovation by identifying and connecting collaboration needs between large corporations and startups and providing government funding for their collaboration.

 

The event was organized to share the collaboration case and joint achievements of Korea Aerospace Industries, Ltd. (KAI), a corporate partner participating in the 2025 Public-Private Partnership Open Innovation Support Program, and startup Cosmo Bee. It featured a range of programs, including an introduction to the Public-Private Partnership Open Innovation Program and its follow-up support, an expert lecture, a presentation of an outstanding collaboration case and a talk concert.

 

The event began with a keynote lecture titled “The Future of Korea’s Space Industry and Technology Strategy” by Research Professor Choi Myeong-jae of Startup KAIST. This was followed by presentations on collaboration cases by Cho Ho-jin, CEO of GenGenAI, and Dongha Park, CEO of Cosmo Bee, an outstanding company selected under the Public-Private Partnership Open Innovation Support Program. A talk concert was then held.

 

This collaboration was particularly meaningful because it conducted a demonstration using a CubeSat in conjunction with the fourth launch of the Nuri rocket. KAI General Manager Kim Tae-hyun said, “Amid the global trend toward open innovation, collaboration with startups is no longer an option but a core strategy. The successful demonstration with Cosmo Bee will serve as an important milestone in reaching the goals pursued by both the public and private sectors.”

 

Dongha Park, CEO of Cosmo Bee, also shared his thoughts, saying, “The opportunity to jointly develop and validate space technology with a system integrator through the support of Seoul CCEI was tremendously valuable for a startup.”

 

Lee Young-geun, CEO of Seoul CCEI, said, “Open innovation combining the technological capabilities of startups with the infrastructure of large corporations has generated innovative achievements in the defense and space sectors. These achievements will serve as an important turning point in opening the era of Korea’s space economy. The center will continue to support Korean space and defense startups in securing competitiveness in the global market.”

Meanwhile, Seoul CCEI will participate as the lead organization for the “Strategic Challenge-Solving Track (Top-Down)” of the 2026 Public-Private Partnership Open Innovation Support Program. The program is supported by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development. Startup applications will be accepted through the K-Startup website from February 20 until 4:00 p.m. on March 19.

 

The Strategic Challenge-Solving Track (Top-Down) of the 2026 Public-Private Partnership Open Innovation Support Program includes 28 corporate partners comprising large and mid-sized companies and a total of 30 challenges. A total of 30 startups will be selected to collaborate with the corporate partners through the program.

 

Selected startups will receive commercialization funding of up to KRW 140 million, with follow-up support linked to startup growth technology-development funding of up to KRW 120 million.
